RESUME

Dawson Brown is a highly skilled, athletic player that works diligently to develop and maintain a plethora of basketball skills. Born in Spain and living in PA (USA), Dawson is a lock-down defender, with solid ball-handling, crafty dribble drives to finish, and refined shooting technique that help him excel in both catch-to-shoot and off the dribble situations. With the ball in hand, his high basketball IQ allows him to read and overcome press defenses.

Son of former 13-year pro overseas and Villanova 1,000 point scorer Howard Brown, Dawson’s superior speed, athleticism, and ability to read and react allow him to flourish in transition.  However, it is the half court where he excels in getting his teammates involved.  He’s best in a principled setting where freedom to find the best shot for himself and his teammates is the ultimate goal.   Because of his willingness to find the best shot, mixed with superior quickness and jumping ability, he flourishes in a high pick roll at the top of key with shooters on the wings and a big that can pop to shoot it or roll with good hands to catch and finish at the rim.  A continuous motion offense also plays to his strengths. A smothering, rule-based defense can maximize Dawson’s ability to lock in on both ends of the court.

A proven winner, his current AAU team beat the #1 HGSL team in the country on their way to a Hoop Group Springfest Championship.  Last year, he led the Phoenixville Phantoms in scoring and assists in games that clinched their first regular season and conference tournament championships in 17 years. In track and field, he claimed multiple individual and team championships, the most recent, as anchor for the PAISAA 4 X 100m state champions.  He is wrapping up a sophomore year at Episcopal Academy under the tutelage of Head Coach Taylor Wright, son of Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Jay Wright.
