Howard Brown Scholarship Fund
Since 2000, the Skoolz Classic has served as the primary fundraiser for the Howard Brown Scholarship Fund. The Fund is fiscally sponsored by the Foundation for Pottstown Education, a 501(c)3 organization.
The event has supported scholarships for more than 20 first generation collegebound student athletes. Scholarship recipients have made Dean’s list, earned All-American honors, and after graduation, went on to become entrepreneurs, pro athletes and leaders in communities across the globe.

In 2011, Skoolz organizers selected youth players from the Philadelphia region to travel to London, England to represent the United States in an international basketball tournament. While the trip was largely sponsored, youth engaged in fundraising and community service activities on their way to play and tour the UK capital city. learn more
About the Founder
Howard Brown was born and raised in Pottstown, where he was a key member of Pottstown High’s 1992-93 state champion basketball team. After being named 1995 PA State Player of the year, Brown went on to earn Big East Scholar Athlete honors and team captain as a 1000 point scorer for Villanova University.
After a 13-year pro basketball career with organizations based in 19 cities of six countries across Europe and South America, Howard focused on social entrepreneurship, community service, and philanthropic endeavors. Brown currently serves in a leadership position at the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation.
